‘It was my fi rst dog, Cindy, who got me
into photography – to begin with I just
wanted to take pictures of her to record
memories, but then a real passion grew,
and I have worked as a dog photographer

‘This is my greyhound,
Ozzy, asleep with his
head on the coffee table. It was
something he did rarely so I had
few opportunities to catch it on

camera. On this occasion the light coming
through the window was just right. It’s one of
my favourite pictures of him and I’m glad to
have it as I lost him to cancer six months later.’

SUSAN’S TOP TIPS
1 You can take a picture pretty
much anywhere. This one was
made in my house, which isn’t
exactly photogenic!
2 Take advantage of natural light
from windows, particularly on
bright but overcast days.

‘Little Noah the Labrador
Retriever was so much fun
to photograph. Once in a while
she suddenly began running
around like a crazy pup. Between

those crazy moments she had some seconds
of inner peace and rest. That’s when I took this
shot. Noah sat down, looked up at her owner
with her and you could tell she was having a
great time exploring the world.’

LOTTE’S TOP TIPS
1 Learn to ‘read’ a dog. What is his/
her character like? What gets
a reaction, causes a certain
movement or facial expression?
Act on this knowledge.
2 Find a location that fi ts the tone
of the image you want to create.
