Funny enough.
Entertaining enough.
Kind enough.
Intentional enough.
Enough, enough, enough ...

But I realize, the older I become, I can’t be enough. I’m going
to make mistakes as I strive to be like Jesus each day.
Unfortunately I’m going to fail at goals I set; that’s just a fact.
Everyone wants to go through life making all the right
decisions, never failing at anything, never disappointing
anyone. But let me suggest that it is okay not to be perfect.
And let me go a little further and say that it is okay for our
children and others around us to see us as imperfect.


It is in those opportunities that we have the freedom to teach
our children and those around us about grace. We need to
teach them that God doesn’t expect Mommy and Daddy to be
perfect, just as God doesn’t expect them to be perfect either.
Mommy’s and Daddy’s love does not go away when they
mess up, and neither does God’s. It is so important to release
them from the burden of having to be perfect. That burden is
too heavy; it drains one’s energy and zest for life. Please realize
that God does not put that burden upon our shoulders, we do.


In Matthew 11:28–29 Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest ... for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Jesus does not want perfection from our children or us. He
wants a relationship, and relationships are not perfect. We see
in all the great stories of the Bible that no one other than Jesus
