D-Photo USA (2019-07-08)

February–March 2014 —
D-Photo Issue No. 58
We see Sony’s dominance of the mirrorless category truly begin
here with the launch of the 24MP Sony a7, along with its 36MP big
brother, the Sony a7R. These aren’t the first mirrorless cameras to
sport a full-frame sensor (that was the Leica M9, remember?), but
they are the first to incorporate an AF system.
Our reviewer, Adrian Malloch,
prefers the stripped-down speed
of the a7 to the brawn of the a7R,
giving it a glowing five-star review.

August–September 2018 —
D-Photo Issue No. 85
This year marks D-Photo’s biggest
Amateur Photographer of the Year
competition to date. More than 13,000
entries across 12 categories make for an
arduous judging process, but it is worth it
to crown Kate Parsonson as the Amateur
Photographer of the Year for 2018.
Of course, that was only the biggest until
this year’s competition, the results of which
feature in this very issue.

April–May 2014 —
D-Photo Issue No. 59
This issue features an article by Paul Daly
about his photographic journey in Turkey,
a piece that will score him the title of
New Zealand Travel Photographer of the
Year. This marks the second year in a row
that a D-Photo article has conquered the
Cathay Pacific Travel Media Awards.
This cover, featuring an image shot by
Bianca Duimel in our feature on child
photography, also marks the second year in
a row that D-Photo takes out the Specialist
category in the Maggie Awards.

David Burns accepts the award on
behalf of D-Photo
