snakes represented gossip, slander, and
vanity in the use of the name of the Lord. If
our mouths are merciless about the faults of
others, then the mouths of the demons will
also be merciless about our own faults on
judgment day. Having been merciless, I'd
shown poor judgment and caused harm to
others with my mouth.
Judgment had been passed as one of
the small rattlesnakes, about three inches in
size, was given leave to poison me. Biting
me in the arm, I knew that I wouldn't die,
but would suffer illness for a time as
penance, atonement and repentance for all
the harm I had caused with words.
Accepting the Lord's judgment as just, I
prepared for the next wave of illness.
"One way of talking is like death."
The New Jerusalem Bible, Old Testament,
Ecclesiasticus 23:12, (Judaism)
"But those things which proceed out of the
mouth come forth from the heart; and they
defile the man. For out of the heart proceed
evil thoughts, murders, adulteries,
fornications, thefts, false witness,
blasphemies: These are the things which
defile a man."
