Dana White, King of MMA

around telling all his friends he would kill the first one who asked her out — he knew
they all wanted to. Boston has an abundance of good looking men, and Brenda is a
beautiful, exotic looking girl. Every guy that met Brenda wanted to go out with her. In
fact, she dated Nomar Garcia Para when he played for the Red Sox.
Dana’s sister and I were furious with Dana when we found out what he had done
to Brenda. She had no furniture, no money to pay the rent, and nowhere to go. I can’t
imagine coming home from work to find an empty apartment, knowing my rent is due
and I have no money to pay it. I called Brenda and asked her what she was going to
do. She told me she didn’t know, but she was not moving back to Maine and she had
to be out of the apartment in a few days because she didn’t have enough money to
pay rent. I told her she could move in with me until she could get things together and
find her own place. I’m sure that was just what she wanted to do, move in with her
ex-boyfriends mother, but I was never home and I had an extra bedroom, so it was
not as if we would even see each other that much. Reluctantly, she said okay and
moved in.
Brenda and I had become friends when she and Dana were living with me on
Tileston Street in the North End, so I knew she was someone I could live with without
any problems. I cannot say that about very many people. When Dana and Brenda lived
with me, I dragged Brenda out with me a few nights to the bars. Dana would be
furious with both of us. We went into the Black Rose at the end of one night of
drinking, and Dana was on the door. Dana told us both to go home, that we were not
going in, but we just laughed and walked right past him. Once inside, Dana told the
other people he worked with to keep everyone away from his girlfriend and his mom.
They actually threw one person out who bought us drinks and was talking to us. The
poor guy couldn’t figure out why he had been asked to leave. I found it quite funny,
but Dana was livid with both of us. He had no sense of humor, even back then.
Brenda and I are still friends today. She married a firefighter named Dave (Dana’s
loss), and his parents own a beach house right around the corner from mine at
Hampton Beach in New Hampshire.
Before his venture into MMA, Dana was a huge fan of boxing, but these days he’s
right boxing is a dying sport, your fathers or even grandfather’s sport. One year while
