Employ summated ratings for mixed substances based on hazardous
substances found in your workplaces, or based on compositions speci-
fied in the SAP EH&S substance database and calculation of indexes.
Create hazardous substance inventories to meet legal requirements by
establishing exposure records and updating them automatically. Ensure
that hazardous-substance information and agent-specific information is
stored and edited at one place only in your enterprise.
Implement multilevel release processes before introducing hazardous
substances or materials. If the use of substances or materials are not
approved for entire enterprises, specific plants, or individual work-
places, set according locks.
Standard operating procedures
Industrial Hygiene and Safety provides support for standard operating
procedures:
Establish the right procedures to avoid any hazard. The content of each
standard operating procedure is created from existing data. If any data
that is marked as relevant — such as reference values or protective
measures — is changed in the hazardous-substance database, the soft-
ware creates new standard operating procedures automatically.
Integrate procedures into existing report-generation and report-
management functions of SAP EH&S to receive full status management
and versioning of documents, as well as to import external documents
into the application.
Create standard operating procedures in any language by working with
phrases, for example reusable text modules that you can translate into
all the languages installed with the software. Build standard operating
procedures for each workplace in all languages spoken by your employ-
ees (as required by law).
Accident management
Accident management is of course a key feature and the following high-
lights some of the ways Industrial Hygiene and Safety supports accident
management:
Create accident records to enter data for any type of accident or near-
miss, defining general and specific fields via the SAP classification system.
Generate accident reports at the push of a button, and dispatch them
via your choice of mail, fax, or e-mail.
Record accident causes in standardized formats. Use root cause hierar-
chies proposed by workers’ compensation associations, or enter your
own causes.
