Coffee
Coffee is acid forming. Soft drinks are very acid forming as they
contain large amounts of acidic phosphates. Many carbonated
drinks such as cola produce their stimulating effects by using
caffeine and high amounts of sugar, both of which are strongly
habit forming and require a serious effort to overcome. We either
become addicted to the habitual pace at which the caffeine
stimulates us or we become so tired from constant digestion that
we are in dire need of something, and our society has found a way
to provide us with a quick easy fix. Cultures are now being created
with café lifestyles that are built around this powerful stimulant. But
do not think that coffee or other caffeine products (many soft
drinks and chocolate) are a no go, they are useful at times,
although rather acid forming. It is more the daily habit that can
hide problems that are more damaging in the long-term.
Substitute coffee in the morning with a wheat grass juice
shot to stimulate bowel movement and produce the morning boost
combined with a Pranayama (breathing) session. I give up
caffeine four years ago. It took more effort than tobacco (but less
than sugar). After one year without any caffeine I was able to use
this chemical. When I have a long morning after a long night
travelling, just a few sips of coffee will produce an effect for me
that lasts for hours.
