ourselves from illness is through total abstinence from certain
foods. I have said that a small amount of a food type is not bad; it
is not. It is up to you to decide how far you want to go. Take one
step at a time. Eat simply, and remember there is not age too
young or too old to start.
These general guidelines may help, but the formula is the
same – find out what your craving food contains nutritionally (not
much probably) and substitute with a nutritionally similar food. Do
this for two or three cravings and if the cravings still exist then try
another food and/or visit your emotions. Everyone has unique
reasons for craving a certain food and not all are for nutritional
reasons. Break free from these cravings and feel what it means to
be free. People who renounce desires often turn, suddenly, into
hypocrites. See history of religions and other acts of mass
restraint. Go with your instincts, and become aware of this ancient
gift we all have.

Eugene Farmer, a Canadian farmer who has been a living food
advocate for many years provides an example of how our instincts
work. After a period of two full years of abstinence from river or
rain water, Eugene discovered a craving – for water. Being able to
analyze his craving he knew it was not for juice or juicy fruits, just
pure water. After drinking some rainwater his cravings
disappeared. Why, he cannot say, but it goes to show that even
the cleanest body’s requirements change throughout time.
