higher levels of health. Fatigue, a general condition of today's
society, is mainly due to three key factors: a reduction in strength
because of too much digestion work; clogged up and narrowed
down bloodvessels; self re-poisoning through the excretion of
mucus during motion.
Ehret believes that the most nutritious substance known to
man is air. Fasting, followed by tree-ripened organic fruits and
green-leafy starch-less vegetables are Ehret's cure. Research has
indicated that mucus secreted by the intestines determines the
type of bacteria that grows there. It has also been found that it
takes a year on average to show any noticeable change in the
flora.
Mucus is found in the lungs, gonads and the intestinal tract
lining. Its function is to protect delicate tissues from problematic
fluids and gases. The mucus build up will dehydrate and harden,
congesting the lymph vessels and introducing poor protein
distribution. This also interferes with oxygen exchange and
general food digestion. An iridologist can tell how much mucus
has built up. This condition, I believe, is widespread. The best way
to avoid this is through a low protein, low fat, fruit, sprout and
greens diet with regular fasting. A 3+ day fast is the best way to
initially cleanse this internal mucus.
During a fast it is important that the individual does not
become depressed. Laughing meditation and light humoured but
gentle company is the best solution. Ehret's definition of disease is
'a fermentation and decay-process of body-substance or of
surplus and unnatural food-material which in course of time has
accumulated, especially in the digestive organs, and which makes
its appearance in the shape of mucus-excretion.'
