The biggest complaint I ever hear about the true
masticating juicers (they break down the cell structure giving
maximum nutrients with least amount of heat) is the amount of
washing up they take. If you have more than two juices a day then
it is worth the effort. Hot water and scrubbing brushes of various
sizes will help. The Champion juicer is best for ease of cleaning.
However the results from the Greenlife Juicer or the Vitamix
(blender) are far superior.


When you see the prices, do not be put off as a juicer is
one of the most valuable pieces of equipment you can have.

Bamboo or stainless steel containers for vegetables or re-
heating rice


Frying pan: Buy a nice big heavy (preferably iron) pan and use for
making bread, toasting seeds, and other general frying.


Non-stick frying pan: Particularly useful for masala dosas!


Grater: For raw cauliflower in salads etc.


Vegetable peeler: A new one! Sharp, easily useable with pivotable
head. Great for certain fruits or vegetables. Note that carrots and
apples are just two examples of where you can find more
concentrated nutrients in the skin which is why I use my 'spaghetti'
maker for producing great slithers or fine gratings of both carrot
and apple, keeping the skins on.


None of these pieces of equipment are necessary. You
can make do with one saucepan and a flat plate for most dishes,
as is used in the most time-honoured traditions. Quality
equipment, however expensive usually pays for itself in the long-
