Noteson Egyptian Textsof the MiddleKingdom.—II.
By F. L. Griffith.

I have recentlyreceived, through the kindness of Dr. Krebs,
a copy of his valuable Dissertation* on the great inscription of
Khnumhotepat Benihasan. Manypassagesare most satisfactorily
explainedin it, but in some casesProfessorMaspero'stranslationf

of 1879 is to be preferred.

Theoriginalof this important inscriptionwas written withrather
more than the usual amountof carelessness. RidiculouserrorsJ
(*~ A ^ for <rz> ^ ^ , 1. 30, superfluous =±s=,1. 82, omission
of 1 1 1. 137, eta,etc.) prove thatlessobviousmistakes maybe
looked for in obscure passages. Thecopiesalso are not entirely
satisfactory.
