Joseph Smith Biography

(Grace) #1
Eight (1813)

[ 15 ] For behold, my brethren, it is given unto you to judge, that ye may know
good from evil; and the way to judge is as plain, that ye may know with a
perfect knowledge, as the daylight is from the dark night.
[ 16 ] For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know
good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing
which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by
the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge
it is of God.
[ 17 ] But whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do evil, and believe not in
Christ, and deny him, and serve not God, then ye may know with a perfect
knowledge it is of the devil; for after this manner doth the devil work, for he
persuadeth no man to do good, no, not one; neither do his angels; neither do
they who subject themselves unto him.
[ 18 ] And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the light by which ye may
judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that ye do not judge wrongfully;
for with that same judgment which ye judge ye shall also be judged.
[ 19 ] Wherefore, I beseech of you, brethren, that ye should search diligently in the
light of Christ that ye may know good from evil; and if ye will lay hold upon
every good thing, and condemn it not, ye certainly will be a child of Christ.^146

The LDS people represent themselves for what they truly are as our fellow siblings.
They are placed in mortality according to where they need to be placed, and are doing what
they need to do to help them learn and understand their true natures. Again, before this
world, we all lived together as equal siblings of the same mutual creators—even the only
eternal family^147 that will ever exist in our true reality. These siblings are proving to
themselves that, when given the choice between “good” and “evil” in their mortal flesh,
they would do what everyone else usually does (choose “evil”); thus convincing them and
all of us that we do need a “Christ” as an Overseer to monitor our eternal existence.
Nevertheless, even when the LDS people read this authorized and official biography
of the man whom they have deified as their “Moses,” they will not believe it. They will
continue to insist that the ancient church has been “restored” as prophesied.^148 And it has
been! The only caveat: what of the “fruits”^149 of this ancient church? Are they “good” or
“evil”? And at the time they were confronted with the Christ in the flesh, what choices did
they make? Were they “good” or “evil,” when it led to the murder of an innocent man? Some
may say the LDS are the restored church of Christ and the apostles; however, scarcely 150
followers were numbered with them who followed Christ at his death. Christ, himself, never
conducted a church meeting or organized a congregation, never built a meetinghouse or
suggested one was needed, nor is there a record of him collecting money from the people. The
LDS Church does not fit the example of Christ in any way.

Choose Ye This Day

As we continue to reveal the real truth concerning Joseph’s life, we will come to
know how wise our advanced monitors truly are in doing what is best for us. We will see
how “blind” and “hardhearted”^150 people can be, especially those who think they know the
truth, but who do not. We will see how wonderful the plan for our mortality and learning
