“His power” was the way that the Book of Mormon came forth. It came from an
advanced human being (an angel) through a rural, nobody, farm boy named Joseph Smith,
Jr. The key word in this verse is “if.” The members of the LDS Church had the opportunity
to “repent and come unto me and be baptized in my name and know of the true points of
my doctrine”—the points on which they were confused because of the Bible. The LDS
people (the Gentiles) refused to “know of the true points of my doctrine,” and instead
sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their
blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond [the true points of
Christ’s doctrine], they must needs fall; for God hath taken away his
plainness from them, and [commanded Joseph Smith] to deliver unto them
many things which they cannot understand, because they desired it. And
because they desired it God hath done it that they may stumble.^12
Anytime an “if” exists in a prophecy, it creates an important, but often overlooked,
contingency; while the warnings are cut into stone, the outcome and penalties are not if the
warning is properly heeded. The Book of Mormon was prophesied to come forth; and there are no
“ifs, ands or buts” about this prophecy being fulfilled. The “ifs” apply to the Gentiles, “if” they
would repent and come unto Christ. The “Gentile” church did not do this, but instead became
the composite of everything that works contrary to the words of Christ. The heritage of the
Gentile church that began in Joseph’s day is alive and well today. The modern LDS/Mormons
are fully engaged in the world outside of the words of Christ. When honestly defined as one of
the “save two churches only” described in the Book of Mormon, it is easy to discern that it is part
of the “church of the devil,”^13 whose desires are the things of the world.
7 And when these things come to pass that thy seed shall begin to know these things—it shall be a
sign unto them, that they may know that the work of the Father hath already commenced unto the
fulfilling of the covenant which he hath made unto the people who are of the house of Israel.
With the advent of the unsealed part of the record (the Book of Mormon), the final
“work of the Father” commenced; in other words, the final lesson that our advanced
monitors intended for our mortality, began. (This “lesson” is explained in further detail
below.) However, the publication of the sealed part of the record (The Sealed Portion) is a
continuation of the commencement of the Father’s work, as prophesied later by Moroni:
“Therefore, when ye shall receive this record [referring to the unsealed and the sealed portions of
the plates] ye may know that the work of the Father has commenced upon all the face of the
land.”^14 The lesson will continue until the day that the Christ and his angels (advanced
human beings) reveal themselves to the whole world.^15
8 And when that day shall come, it shall come to pass that kings shall shut their mouths; for that
which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
“When that day shall come” refers to the commencement of the fulfilling of “the
covenant which he hath made unto the people who are of the house of Israel.”^16 The
covenant, which is that the people will inherit their own “land of promise,” will not and
cannot be fulfilled UNTIL CHRIST COMES TO THE EARTH. Whenever the term “it shall
come to pass” is used, it denotes a substantial amount of time that will pass in between
