coloursbeforeI start,choosing
colourswithreferenceto
photographs.I consider
complementarycoloursandoften
exaggeratea littleforimpact.I use
Colourfixpastelpaper(halfa sheet
ofBlueHazeforthispicture)taped
toboardforstability.
STEP TWO
I drawina horizonlinewithpastel
pencilandblockincloudareacolours
withsoftpastels.Straightstrokes
(oftenthesideofthepastel)areused
indistantandstreakyclouds.Curvy
strokestohelpformcloudshapesare
usedforthefluffycloudareas.Thisis
donequicklyandroughly.
STEP THREE
Withfingers,I blendcloudareas–
beginningwithdarkareasandthebases
ofclouds– keepingthestrokesfairly
horizontal.I blendlighterareasusing
small,roundstrokestoestablishfluffy
