SOMETHING

FISHY

beautiful patterns on the seafloor. But what are they?

Underwater crop circles? Mermaid art? Alien messages?

SCIENCE WONDERS

S A N DY ST R UCT U R E
These pretty undersea sand sculptures are
about 6½ ft (2 m) wide, with a central area

discovered in 1995, but it took scientists
another sixteen years to figure out that
they are the nests of a male fish.
