Join in with the fun of the Grand
National at Aintree (5.15pm
tomorrow) by taking part in our
sweepstake and winning money off
your friends and colleagues.
Given that most people are stuck at
home – or at least not in the office –
there are some logistical challenges
to typical sweepstake protocol, but
we aren’t deterred and you
shouldn’t be either.
Here’s how you can make it work.
Gather your friends, family,
colleagues or whatever group of
misfits you can find online — ideally
44 of them, to match the number of
runners and reserves (or wait until
after 1pm today when none of the
reserves can be added to the field
as replacements and the number is
down to 40) — and nominate
someone to cut up our sweepstake
kit and conduct the draw.
This could be filmed, with the video
then shared to all participants, or
(for added excitement) broadcast
live, via your preferred group video
chat platform. Then write the name
of each entrant by their allocated
horse below. Payment (say, £2 each)
can be collected via Paypal or
Revolut or a similar service and then
distributed to the lucky winners. If
you can't get to 44 people, some
can pay for more than one entry so
that all 44 are allocated. Either all of
the prize money can go to the
winner (£88 if it's £2 per entry) or, to
spread the cheer more widely, say,
£44 for the winner, £24 for second
place, £10 for third, £5 for fourth and
£5 for the last horse to finish the
course.
