Paint, paint and
more paint
All of the property sale experts agree
that a freshly painted fence, facade and
roof will work wonders.
‘Spend a few hours giving the picket
fence a fresh coat of paint,’ says stylist Jo.
‘he roof may need painting, too,
or you may be able to get away with
a pressure wash. But either way, the
look of the roof and facade is important
because when people spot a problem
they assume it is going to be expensive
to ix. hey will look at a home and see
a mossy roof and think maybe it needs
replacing, and they will factor that into
their ofer price.’
Cathy Morrissey used three colours
– white, grey and charcoal – to lighten
up the exterior, the trimmings and the
garage doors of the western Sydney
home she renovated for a client.
he exterior house painting cost
roughly $5000, and Cathy also spray
painted the roof, which cost around
$1000 but lifted the look of the home.
‘his was a place that hadn’t been
painted for at least 15 years. Colour
selection is vital in attracting buyers,’
says Cathy.
‘Go for timeless colours that are
popular with many people,’ she says.
‘If you’re not sure what to choose, go
for a drive to a new area and see what
colours are used on the latest homes.’
