sweetener in 3ft of water.
Luke Terry’s e orts on Sussex
day-ticket water Swanborough
Farm are paying dividends. Luke
has banked more than 25 sh in a
three-week period and was
celebrating after landing a personal-
best 34lb mirror. Luke landed the
sh on an Urban Bait Nutcracker
pop-up on a hard patch amongst
silt.
Mark Gibson enjoyed a great
72-hour session on the soon-to-be-
opened Wraysbury No. 1. Mark
banked 17 to 21lb 1oz during a
charity event for Stoney & Friends
McMillan Cancer Support. He
spodded hemp and particle mix and
used Evolution plastic maggots and
sweetcorn on a chod rig made from
Vardis end tackle. Wraysbury’s
owners RK Leisure believe the sh
could be one of the famous lake’s
originals.
Catches at Chase Lake are
starting to hot up, with the tricky
Front Lake giving up a nice thirty.
Chris Walling was a happy carper
after banking a cracking 32lb
mirror. Chris set up in the Cherries
swim for an overnighter and landed
the sh on a Mainline Milky To ee

pop-up. Andy Kitching shed a
48-hour session on the Back Lake
and the highlight was a new
personal-best common of 23lb 9oz.
Andy set up on the Point swim and
landed a small mirror, before the
common took his 15mm Nutz
boilie. Andy also banked another
small mirror.
Lee Valley’s Banjo Lake and
Stock Pit in Stanstead Abbotts,
Hertfordshire, are both starting to
sh well, and a big thank you to
baili Martin Phipps for getting in
touch. Birthday boy Lee Hawes set
up in swim one on Banjo for a
24-hour spell, moved to swim seven
and then enjoyed a fabulous
session. Lee banked 10 carp ranging
from 14lb to Lee’s new personal
best, a nice 29½lb mirror. All the
sh were caught on claw rigs in
conjunction with Korda safety-clip
systems. His hookbait comprised
pink and yellow fake corn and was
shed over a baited spot. Terry
Glasgow shed swim 10 on Banjo
and managed two nice mirrors of
16½lb and 13lb 1oz, both caught
from the inside margins. Stuart
Palmer returned to Banjo after a
three-year absence and set up in
swim two. He was rewarded with a
lovely 26lb 7oz mirror caught on
the far margin, using the ever-
popular Sonubaits Code Red boilies
tipped with Purple Squid corn. Loz
Clark shed swim seven on Banjo
and had mirrors of 18¼lb and 24lb
6oz, again taken from the far
margin. Craig Ellis shed swim
three on Banjo and was rewarded
with a nice 26¼lb mirror.
e big common that Lee Valley
 sheries o cer Jamie Godson
caught recently at 26¾lb from the
Stock Pit (details in last week’s

South East Report) was caught
again from swim ve, so it is on the
munch now and can only get bigger.
Jamie returned to sh on Stock’s
swim four and managed a nice 18lb
3oz mirror from the far margin on a
Code Red pop-up.
It is good to hear that
Stanborough’s sh are getting
close to the 30lb mark. Steve Rogan
chose the rst swim on the river
side at the Welwyn Garden City day-
ticket water and banked a common
of 27lb. e St Albans carper used a
Mainline Hybrid pop-up and shed
it on a hinged sti rig made from
Korda Mouthtrap and a size 6
Choddy hook.
By the time this edition of
Carp-Talk hits the shops, the Nos. 1,
2 and 3 and Warwick lakes at
 ames Water Walthamstow will be
closed until the summer. However,
one carper who avoids the busier
pits for the tricky Lower Maynard is
Richard Mills. e Essex electrician
scores well on this water, which,
although tough, is capable of
providing some stunning sh. On
his latest visit, Richard bagged an
18lb 2oz mirror. He plotted up close
to the machinery swims and found
signs of sh close in on the end of a
cold north-easterly wind. Tactics for
the day were eight inches of Fox
Illusion tied to a size 6 Atomic
Chodda hook and a 3oz pear lead on
a helicopter set-up with an 18mm
Urban Bait Nutcracker boilie, tipped
o with a 12mm matching pop-up.
Cottington Lakes produced
for Karl Eastley when he put in an
overnight session on Lake Pepper’s
peg 11. e regular at the Kent
venue landed a 37lb 2oz mirror and
a 15lb ghostie on Mainline Cell
dumbbells.

Mark Gibson

on Wraysbury No.

1oz mirror

Steve Rogan

Stanborough
and took this
27lb common
