events in the Florida Keys that
negatively affect the tourism industry,
which is critical to the state’s economy
and thus the livelihoods that depend
on activities such as fi shing and diving.
Call it climate change if you want,
but it’s irrefutable that environmental
carbon is increasing, and the scientifi c
community is solidly behind the
mechanics of ocean acidifi cation.
I am a subscriber and am
planning a trip to Guadeloupe.
There was an article in the April
2015 edition by Jad Davenport on
Guadeloupe [“Butterfl y Wings”, page
82]. We are chartering a boat in
mid-July with TradeWinds Charters
Caribbean. I was interested in any
other info or tips that he or your
magazine may have on that island
and the surrounding islands. I sure
enjoy your magazine. Thanks for your
help and input.

Writer’s response:
Buy a French phrasebook. Learn
some phrases. Never ask someone
if they speak English (it’s highly
offensive). Instead, say, “I speak a
little French,” then do your best. If
they speak English they’ll happily
help you out. As for places to visit,
catch the ferry over to Les Saintes
(stay a few nights there if you can).
Go to the cafes, hike to the fort,
take the boat around to some of the
beaches (my favorite is the hidden
beach at Pain de Sucre—Sugarloaf).
Corrections:
-On page 52 of the January 2016
issue, the Tiara 39 Coupe boat review
incorrectly stated a hydraulic swim
platform, which is not currently an
option on this particular model.
-On page 82 of the February 2016
issue, the rendering of the Pursuit
S 408 was incorrectly labeled as a
DS295. The text incorrectly refers to
the DC295 as a DS295.
