WELCOME BACK, BIG APPLE

The New York Yacht Club is back in the America’s Cup after a 15 year

absence with its representative, the Bella Mente Quantum Racing

(BMQR) Association, a challenger for the 2021 event in New Zealand.

The syndicate has signed Spanish architects Botin Partners to

design the mononull that will compete in the final races in Auckland.

In 2004 Marcelino Botin joined Team New Zealand in its quest for the

Cup as principal designer and since has had much success, including

with the high performance TP52 class for Quantum Racing – overall

winner in the Key West Racing Week this year (pictured).

chancetoachievethisgoal,”Botin,thefirm’spresident,said.

BMQRunitesyachtsmenJohn“Hap”Fauth(BellaMenteRacing),

athreetimechampionintheMaxi72class,andDougDeVos(Quantum

Racing).FinalruleswillbereleasedinMarch2018,butwiththis

appointmentit’scleartheraceisalreadyon.

Buehler Turbocraft is building its first

boats since John Clapot bought the

iconic American brand in 2011.

Silverfin is a lightweight aluminum

39ft dayboat with a narrow semi-

planing hull powered by a single engine

for uncommon efficiency at an

estimated top speed of 20 knots.

Clapot describes the styling as

a cross between explorer and lobster

boats with a modern twist and equal

space indoor and outdoor. Silverfin

should debut in summer 2018.
