notice, it does have more power than
the diesel, seven horses more to be
exact. It may not sound like much, but
it seems to make all the difference,
with the V40 T2 feeling more akin to
its previous T4 petrol sibling in terms
of overall engine responsiveness,
rather than the somewhat podgy
and lethargic feel of the D2.
The result is a car that is reasonably
affordable and accessible, fairly efficient
and economical, and yet doesn’t feel
underpowered. The V40 T2 feels lively
and energetic to drive, and although
not quite as bahn-storming as the T4
model, the T2 proves more than capable
enough to keep up with traffic, and then
some. Its 220Nm of torque comes in
fairly early, at around 1600-3500rpm,
which means that the car is every willing
to accelerate quickly once you put your
foot down. 0-100km/h in 9.8 seconds
is not bad really for a car like this.
When you’re not pushing it
around like a hooligan, the V40 T2
settles down nicely into a docile,
domesticated little servant, cruising
around effortlessly and smoothly,
