Wheels

is remarkably eye-popping, especially
for a car that weighs over two tons to
gut corners with little or no difficulty.
Although borne for the sake of lugging
both man and equipment over a mixed
course of terrain, the GLE450 AMG
begs to be driven fast and hard. More
than often, the force-fed V6 is a willing
partner in crime, since it revs easily
throughout the entire powerband, even
more so as you pair each gear change
manually with the paddle-shifters
within fingertips, rewarding one with
a resounding grunt as the dual-clutch
works its cogs. Of course, the sane side
of things is a decent fuel consumption
of 10.2km per litre should the mood
calls for a slow cruise through the
island’s complex road infrastructure
of arterial and service roads.
If you have that urge for making a
statement in absolute brute force and
style while doing it like you’re tripping
the great outdoors, the Mercedes Benz
GLE450 AMG is a great proposition
to consider, especially if you want
to stand out from the populace that
has been littered with the typical
SUV fare of its Bavarian counterpart.
Be reminded though, such luxurious
power does not come cheap.
