R-Car H3 delivers computing
capabilities that exceed those of
its predecessor, the R-Car H2.
Can you explain how?
A:The R-Car H3 realizes powerful
automotive computing performance
exceeding that of its predecessor
R-Car H2. This enables system
manufacturers to utilize the new R-Car
H3 as an automotive computing
platform to play a key role in the
autonomous-driving era. Compared
to the R-Car H2, CPU performance is
improved 1.6 times by changing ARM
Cortex-A15 to ARM Cortex-A57/A53,
and GPU performance is improved
3 times by including the PowerVRGX6650 of Imagination Technologies,
Inc. as 3-D graphics engine. Process
width has been shrunk from 28nm to
16nm.Q: What are the additional
technological capabilities of
R-Car H3?A: With improved architecture
design, the R-Car H3 enables
system manufacturers to run multiple
applications simultaneously as well
as run real-time operation to achieve
low latency. As for H/W functional
safety, while R-Car H2 only supports
quality management, the R-Car H3
conforms to the ISO 26262 (ASIL-B)functionality safety for automotives.Q: To what extent does it optimise
cost?A: R-Car H3 can be used in IVI
systems including HMI as well as in
ADAS including cognitive systems as
it supports ASIL-B functional safety.Q: Can you elaborate how
this platform is suitable for
ADAS which is a bouquet of
technologies right from lane
departure to adaptive cruise
control to collision avoidance
