LUXURY AFLOAT
Prince van Orangien
Built in 1935, this unique boat accommodation
has been lovingly restored to preserve its authentic
heritage. The boat is super luxurious with decadent
vintage furniture and furnishings of marble and dark
wood, and even a claw-foot bath. Cabins are elegant
and cosy, some with decks and all with water views,
of course.
TRADITIONAL GLAM
Grand Hotel
Lavishly decorated and a favourite with celebrities,
the Grand Hotel is, well, grand. Plush rooms complete
with silk robes and fresh flowers are complemented
by top-notch dining and bar options. Don’t miss
the Nordic Bathing Ritual at its Nordic Spa and
Fitness centre.
DESIGNER DIGS
At Six
Opened in 2017, this art and design hotel has a
contemporary Nordic flair. Architects from Universal
Design Studio worked with art curator Sune Nordgren
to put the hotel’s art collection front and centre.
Expect rooms with a pared back, sophisticated feel.
OAXEN KROG & OAXEN SLIP
Owners Agneta Green and Magnus Ek have a long and
wonderful gastronomic presence in Stockholm. First
opening a restaurant in 1994 on Oaxen in the Stockholm
archipelago, the duo is a magnetic force
on the restaurant scene. They have
truly honed everything to
perfection – from the food
to the décor and the service.
Their original restaurant
earned global recognition,
being listed as one of the
world’s 50 best restaurants
for five years in a row. Oaxen’s
current incarnation, which opened
in 2013, includes Michelin-starred Oaxen
Krog for fine dining, and the adjoining, more casual
Oaxen Slip – plus the private Club Room. The impressive
establishment boasts a tranquil waterfront location on
leafy Djurgården. At Oaxen, sustainability is at the fore
and produce truly shines, with many of the ingredients
grown at a nearby farm
plot on the island and
lovingly picked, prepared,
cooked and placed in
thoughtful, delicious
and impressive dishes.
Don’t miss this welcoming
and unforgettable
dining experience.
LOCAL LOVE
The main shopping area in Stockholm is
Drottninggatan. Head to Östermalm for high-end
labels and classy boutiques (plus plenty of up-market
bars and eateries). The pedestrian-only street
Biblioteksgatan sometimes even rolls out a red
carpet for its fashion-loving shoppers. Stock up
on high-quality local designer fashion from labels
such as Filippa K, WHYRED, Brixtol and Acne. For
suitcase-sized Scandi design pieces for the home,
check out Designtorget and Iris Hantverk, dotted
throughout the city in multiple locations. »
