DOVILE BERNADISIUTE,
JEWELLERY ARTIST
What’s a must-do for visitors?
The Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde art museum.
It is an extraordinary building containing Swedish
art surrounded by a stunning interior.
Do you have a secret spot off the tourist trail?
Consisting of a few greenhouses, Rosendals Trädgård
is a cosy café serving lunch, pastries, coffee and
tea with ecological and biodynamic specialties.
In winter, you can definitely experience the mys
(cosiness), having lunch in the warm greenhouse
surrounded by plants and flowers. As a jeweller,
I also like to visit Etnografiska Museet (Museum of
Ethnography), which has a collection of objects from
all over the world. It is further out, but worth it.
Best place for design inspiration in Stockholm?
Platina gallery is my contemporary jewellery inspiration
place, and also Svenskt Tenn, which represents
Swedish design at its best. Another place that always
inspires me is the Nationalmuseum; it is constantly
showcasing cutting-edge design.
Favourite places to shop?
I like to shop at Bibliotekstan,
where all my favourite
fashion and design stores
are located. I do also love
the Christmas markets in
Stockholm during winter,
where many designers and
artists offer their creations.
What can you
recommend for
a true Swedish
experience?
I can’t help but
select Pelikan
restaurant as
a true Swedish experience in terms of food.
The combination of a beautiful dining room
with the ultimate husmanskost (traditional
food) makes it a cult favourite.

UNIQUE VIEW
There are many ways to
appreciate the ‘Venice of the
north’. Numerous ferry and boat
services ply the pretty waterways of Stockholm,
or take to the skies and see the city from above with
a hot-air balloon ride. On solid ground, head to
Mariaberget. Its lookout, park and track hugs a cliff
in trendy Södermalm, overlooking the city, including
the old town, Gamla Stan, and the unmistakable
City Hall at Kungsholmen.
