M6 Mk II came news of
two new lenses for
Canon’s other mirrorless
system. A fast mid-range
zoom is essential in any
professional’s camera bag,
so the addition of the RF
24-70mm F2.8L IS USM will
make migrating to the full-
frame mirrorless EOS R or
RP even more attractive.
Construction of the new
lens comprises 21 elements
in 15 groups, and there are
nine aperture blades.
The new lens shares Nano
USM technology with the new
RF 15-35mm (right): it’s a new
autofocus actuator that offers
the torque needed for fast AF
when shooting stills, as well
as the smooth adjustments
required for video.

R system – in fact, this is Canon’s
widest-ever lens with an f/2.8
aperture, besting the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II
by one millimetre. The RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS
USM offers five stops of image stabilisation,
and its optical configuration (16 elements
in 12 groups) has been designed to correct
aberration, distortion and astigmatism.
