RETROFIT

Grundfos and Arabi teamed up at
the former’s new Retrofi t Acad-
emy to focus on Kuwait’s largely
untapped retrofi t market.
The objective of the train-
ing was to refresh Arabi staff’s
knowledge of pumps, controls,
motors and variable frequency
drives and bring them up to date
on the savings that can be made
using the latest high technology
integrated pumping systems.
Tolga Candan, who is head-
ing the Energy Optimization
and Retrofi t in Grundfos, took
the Arabi staff through a series
of presentations designed to help
them identify and measure en-
ergy wastages in pump related
applications. Furthermore, Can-

dan gave a demonstration on how
to retrofi t and optimise pumping
systems in a range of water-relat-
ed applications.
Andrew Gamal, who is head-
ing Arabi’s retrofi t team said:
“Working with Grundfos, we
will now be offering customers
a free Grundfos Energy Check
to identify where they can make
the biggest savings by retrofi t-
ting with new high effi ciency
Grundfos pumps and controls."

POWER PLANTS

Siemens and Bentley Systems
have announced a joint technol-
ogy and service solution, con-
sisting of their complementary
offerings, to speed up the digi-
talisation of power plants and pro-
vide intelligent analytics with a
range of innovative offerings and
managed services solutions.
The new service, to be hosted
on Siemens’ cloud-based open
IoT operating system, Mind-
Sphere, will combine Bentley’s
advanced asset performance
software capabilities with Sie-
mens’ complementary technol-
ogy and service expertise to

empower power plant owners to
take full advantage of digitalisa-
tion, which helps improve main-
tenance operations and planning.
Siemens’ asset performance
management (APM) solution,
part of the company’s Omnivise
digital solutions portfolio, covers
the entire power plant, includ-
ing the combustion and steam
turbines as well as associated
generators and pumps, motors,
transformers, valves, switch-
gears, and other equipment
that affects plant reliability and
performance. APM service solu-
tions are tailored to each organ-
isation’s unique needs.
