From junction in the centre of Tebay
take narrow lane opposite tennis
court, immediately leading onto Open
Access land: fork R and walk uphill
with wall on L to pass farmhouse.
Leave track and head S to Powson
Knott; continue S up open hillside
to Blease Fell.

Drop E to Archer Moss, then SE
to crest of Uldale Head. Carry on
steeply downhill to broad grass col
at Blakethwaite Bottom and climb
slopes to E of Great Ulgill Beck. Reach
ridge at Over Sale, turn S and follow
wide ridge to Wind Scarth, Breaks
Head and col at Windscarth Wyke.
Climb steeply up to Bush Howe and
continue to White Head Fell. Look

N from here to spot the Black Horse of
Busha on the slopes above Stranger Gill
(you will need to descend W from the
ridge to guarantee a view). Veer SE to
The Calf and join the only bit of worn
footpath on the entire walk.

Walk NE from the trig point, past two
small tarns on R, and continue N to
Hazelgill Knott. Keep ahead for another
2km to reach West Fell, drop W over
damp ground and climb to Langdale
Knott with deep valley on L.

Continue NW, downhill, towards wall,
cross Langdale Beck and follow wall up
to Uldale Head. Keep W over moor, cross
valley at Eller Gill and walk NW, with
Waskew Head on R, to return into Tebay.
