their travels. Eventually Sarah was
ready to take her love of quilting to
the next level. “I knew I could offer
something distinctive, so I convinced
my husband to buy a building in
town and Dolores to go into owner-
ship of the business with me,”
she says.

“The shop definitely reflects our
personal styles,” Sarah says. “When
we started, we were passionate about
1800s reproduction fabric, and the
store reflected that. Over the years
we’ve added batik and novelty

When customers step through
the door into Homestead Hearth,
they enter a world where traditional
styles meet modern modes. Wood
paneling and shelves, an exposed brick
wall, antique decor, and terra-cotta
floors convey the building’s history.
