GEt Down low

as wiTh any genre of photography your
perspective can play a huge role in the
outcome of your pictures. Getting down
low with the baby Andean Condor and
White-Tailed Eagle makes for a much
more striking composition, increasing the
distance
between the
bird and the
background,
so it’s easier
to throw it
out of focus.

iAn’s comment

This incredible White-
Tailed Eagle flew in and I
thought I was going to be able to
practice my panning shots some
more, but she headed straight for
a pond to have a bath and cool off! This in itself
presented some fantastic opportunities as her wet
feathers gave her a slick sheen. I had a bit of trouble
getting as low to the ground as Guy due to an
operation in my knee, but we were both firing off
large bursts of images. Guy managed to catch
this wonderful moment where it shook all
of the water off.

Ai s ervo AF

BoTh GuY and Ian stayed in the
AI Servo mode throughout the
day which will let you continually
refocus on the active AF point, as
long as you half-press the shutter
down. Enthusiast and pro Canon
bodies can also be setup for
‘back button’ focusing so that focusing is removed from the shutter button and
given it’s own dedicated button on the rear of the camera body.
