608 CHAPTER 16: The Future of Android: The 64-Bit Android 5.0 OS
Click on the VIEW ALL DOWNLOADS AND SIZES screen to slide open the “drawer” containing the
Windows OS, Mac OS X, and Linux OS download files, along with their file sizes, MD5 checksum
information, and their links, as shown in Figure 1 6- 7. In case you are wondering how the checksum
information is used, it verifies the accuracy of the download. Essentially, if the installer claims that it has
been corrupted, this means the checksum of the downloaded file does not match the one that is listed.
Figure 16-7. Click the View All Downloads link, right-click an OS package link, and choose Save Link As to download the installer
Figure 16-8. The Save Link As menu item will open the Save As dialog; save android-studio into an Android 5.0 folder
You can right-click on any of these links and select the Save File As, Save a Copy As, or Save Link
As options, which will allow you to select the area on your hard drive, or in my case on a USB key,
which I can transport among any of the workstations in my production facility, installing the software
via an external drive.
Figure 16-8 shows the Save As dialog for 64-bit Windows 7 and the Android_5.0 folder I created to
hold the android-studio-bundle Windows installer file, which I downloaded using the right-click Save
As work process.
