This month’s mobile must-downloads

1 Drop Not!
£free / iOS
Isometric one-thumb survival
games? Yawn. But wait! This one’s
by the Power Hover people and
has 20 handcrafted levels. More
adventure than typical cheapo
endless shenanigans.

4 Rounded Corner
£free (IAPs) / Android
Green with envy on seeing new
phone displays with natty rounded
corners? Use Rounded Corner to
get said corners on your rubbish old
phone. If you’re feeling odd, choose
a decorative style instead.

7 N.O.V.A. Legacy
£free (IAPs) / Android
Travel back to the early days of
mobile blasters with this remastered
FPS. It’s also retro in its titchy
download size: just 20MB. Perfect
when on a rubbish connection,
hankering to shoot something.

2 Workflow
£free / iOS
For automation wonks, Workflow
is best-in-kind on iOS. Apple’s now
gobbled the app up and made it
free. Great news, unless you’re
using Google-orientated workflows,
which have been expunged. (Sigh.)

5 Meganoid (2017)
£4.99 / iOS ● £4.09 / Android
This sort-of-Spelunky leaps from
part 2 to part 2017... except that bit’s
in brackets, so it’s probably the year.
Anyway: a plentiful, great-looking,
procedurally generated platforming
adventure awaits.

8 Sway
£2.99 / iOS
Pause, ustwo’s previous app, had
you caress a phone for meditative
bliss. Sway has you wobble about
in ‘interactive meditation’. We can’t
tell if ustwo is taking the mick, but
Sway is surprisingly effective.

3 Transformers:
Forged to Fight
£free (IAPs) / iOS, Android
Much like Kabam’s Marvel game,
this one welds Street Fighter-ish
one-on-one brawls, and has you
tapping at the screen with all the
finesse of a Michael Bay movie.

6 Chicken Scream
£free / iOS, Android
Canabalt with a chicken, and an
added twist: you urge the bird on
by singing to it and make it jump by
yelling. Someday all games will be
made this way – which will make
commutes interesting.

9 Giphy Says
£free / iOS
The tiny snag with gifs is that they
lack sound. Giphy Says turns your
utterances into speech bubbles
that cover your mug during
playback. Sometimes, it even
transcribes your words accurately.

3 OF
THE BEST

NEW iOS
MUSIC
APPS

LOOPERVERSE
£9.
Sixteen tracks
of live-looping
goodness, with
effects, waveform
editing and pitch-
shifting. It also
integrates with the
Looperverse pedal.

Fancy unleashing
your inner DJ,
looping it up like a
guitar legend, or
becoming a synth
demon? Your iPad’s
the place to play.

LAYR
£19.
A massively
polyphonic multi-
timbral synth,
where you can
layer up sounds
until holding down
one key emits
a masterpiece.

PACEMAKER
£free (IAPs)
DJ with on-board
music or Spotify
tracks, with
an accessibility
absent from pro-
oriented options.
Pacemaker+ adds
new tools.
