AC 787S TO DUBAI
AND DELHIAir Canada will launch non-stop services
between Toronto and Dubai, and Toronto
and Delhi in November. They will be the
seventh and eighth new international des-
tinations to the airlines’ global network to
have been announced in the past year.
The three-times-weekly Dubai service
using the yet to be delivered Boeing 787-
series, will be Air Canada’s first non-stop
flight to the United Arab Emirates at a time
when traffic between North America and
the region is growing. Dubai’s Emirates
and Abu Dhabi’s Eithad Airways already
serve Toronto and have pressed to increase
frequencies to daily. Dubai International
recently surpassed London Heathrow as
the world’s busiest international airport
and is a key connector airport.
“The introduction of the Boeing 787
Dreamliner to Air Canada’s fleet has beena catalyst for our international expansion
plans, which will receive an additional im-
petus in 2015 when the larger Dreamliner
787-9 series aircraft begins to enter the
fleet,” said Calin Rovinescu, Air Canada’s
chief executive.The Delhi service will be the inaugural
route for Air Canada’s 787-9, and is ex-
pected to open new opportunities in the
Indian subcontinent, currently the largest
