The “new” Eastern Air Lines is still struggling to grow as a serious airline. They added six Boeing 737-800s to their fleet and have orders for ten

737 MAX 8s and even twenty MRJ90s. Recently they already phased out three 737-800s, which they had only added to their fleet less than one

year ago. One of them is this 737-800 N279EA that was returned to the lessor, who placed the aircraft on a new lease with Meridiana. The aircraft

is pictured here still in full Eastern Air Lines colours at Shannon while on its way to Olbia. It was probably one of the last chances to picture this

aircraft in full Eastern Air Lines colours and with its US registration. (30 June 2017, Malcolm Nason)
