12apr17 1531/UN-809 SA330J dam

A Pakistan Army Aviation Puma, operating on behalf of

United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the

Democratic Republic of the Congo MONUSCO (which comes

from its French name Mission de l’Organisation des Nations

Unies pour la Stabilisation en République Démocratique du

Congo), crashed on take-off from Kavumu, DRC. At some

point it sounds like an engine failed, causing the Puma to

lose altitude and come down hard, rolled over and came to

rest on the runway on its right hand side. There were no

reported serious injuries and the chopper received substan-

tial damage. Here is the YouTube video of the incident: http://www.

This Mi-8 of Dalnerechensk Avia suffered a right hand engine

failure forcing the crew into an emergency landing 29 kilo-

metres from Vostok, Primorsky Krai. The main rotors struck

the ground and the tail boom broke off. Nobody onboard was

injured.

21jun17 2948 Mi-17 w/o

While carrying out a regularly scheduled flight on the Qam-

ishlo to Deir Ezzor supply route, the Syrian Arab Air Force

Mi-17 was apparently shot down by IS, although air force offi-

cials claimed a technical failure was to blame. In either case

the Mil made a crash-landing in an open area at Qamishlo,

came down heavily, during which the tail boom and main

rotors broke off and causing the undercarriage to collapse.

It still remained upright, coming to rest on the starboard

weapons pylons. The pilot survived without any injuries.

22jun17 OE-XRK Bell 204B 2199 w/o

The Bell 204 of Kitz-Air sustained substantial damage in a

26jun17 N58SM Be58 TK-8 w/o

A private Beech Baron impacted an airport maintenance

vehicle upon landing at McCampbell-Porter Airport, Ingle-

side, north-west of Aransas Pass (TX). The Baron was par-

tially consumed by the post-impact fire and the sole pilot

onboard was not injured.

The Fuerza Aérea Boliviana has now lost 50% of their PC-7
