Royal Air Force (AF)

On 1 July 2017, the Royal Air Force (RAF) stood up a new

squadron. This took place at RAF Marham, and the unit in

question is 207 squadron. The squadron will act as F-35B

Lightning II Operational Conversion Unit for both the Royal

Air Force and Fleet Air Arm.

RAF Lossiemouth has officially been named the new location

of the P-8A Poseidon fleet. This was announced on 13 July

2017, when a United States Navy P-8A (168440/440) visited

this RAF station in the north of Scotland. The reason for this

visit was the official presentation of the Poseidon squadrons.

Both 120 squadron and 201 squadron are to be re-activated

as maritime patrol units equipped with these aircraft in the

future. The first of nine aircraft on order is due to be deliv-

ered in 2020.

Not yet reported by us is the activation of the Northern

Ireland UAS at RAF Aldergrove. Early June 2017, Tutor T1

G-BYUR was reported carrying markings of this University

Air Squadron.
