All four were delivered to RAF Cranwell, and most likely they

will take up registrations ZM307 until ZM310 in due course.

These tie-ups however are not yet confirmed!

Spitfire IIa

As written under the header “Hurricane”, the Battle of Britain

Memorial Flight also applied new markings on Spitfire P7350.

The starboard side of this aircraft has been repainted in

honor of Ken Wilkinson. He was assigned to 19sq and flew in a

Spitfire coded QV-E. He retired from the RAF as Flying Officer

and has now reached the age of 98 years. The port side of this

Spitfire is coded QJ-G, in honor of Geoffrey Wellum. He was

one of the youngest pilots to participate in the battle which

started when he was 19 years old. Assigned to 92sq, he was

credited three confirmed kills, four probables and several

damaged. Currently Geoffrey Wellum is 95 years old.

MAR reports both ZJ803/803 and ZJ809/809 as in short term

storage at RAF Lossiemouth pending induction into the

Return To Parts (RTP) line at RAF Coningsby. They appear to

still fly occasionally, but were last reported to us as on active

squadron service in April 2017. At that point in time ZJ803

was assigned to 6sq and ZJ809 to 1(F)sq.

Early May 2017, ZJ916/S was damaged in the paint shop at

RAF Coningsby by Serco personnel. It is reported that the air-

craft requires a replacement wing.

For the 100 year Gruppo Caccia celebrations at Grosseto, several F-2000s were seen with special paint schemes, one of which was MM7293/37-18.
