Let’s start by saying that the new GS-200
revolutionises the control of electric retracts,
as it not only controls the up/down movement
and the normal operation of the brakes, but
incorporates a fully programmable sequencer
for up to 8 servos or linear actuators used to
open and close the undercarriage doors, dif-
ferential (YES!) control of the brakes and
even a gyro for nosewheel steering! All of
these functions are programmable via a large
colour touchscreen display, with this showing
the battery voltage and the position of
retracts and doors: red when closed, green
when open, as in full size aviation.Also shown is the brake current consumption
when the landing gear is in the
extended/down position.
The unit is very compact and light, measuring
just 65 x 45 x 20mm and weighing only 67
grams! It can be used with a wide variety of
radio control systems using one or two chan-
nels, with Futaba S-Bus, UDI Bus, SRXL
Bus, JR Mode A Bus and Jeti EX Bus all
being catered for.
Let’s commence by going in depth into the
unit, starting with the two most interesting
features of the GS-200: the differential brake
control and the steering gyro. Brakes are
essential on most jets, and certainly for all

back this up. As all users of electric
retracts are well aware, to enable the units
to work, a suitable controller is needed to
translate the signals coming from the
receiver into movement of the retracts and
operation of the brakes, alongside provi-
ding the required power from a separate

something where the word controller
