New technique to
improve treatment
of ptosis

A new study published
in the American journal,
‘Plastic and Reconstruc-
tive Surgery’, published
by the American Society
of Plastic Surgeons, has
shown that outcomes in
ptosis or droopy eyelids
can be significantly im-
proved by modifying cur-
rent surgical approaches.
The study conducted
by facial plastic surgeon
Dr Debraj Shome, and
The Esthetic Clinics also
points out that common-
ly performed techniques
may not yield good
results. By incorpora-
tion of an additional lid
crease incision, the modi-
fied technique addressed
symmetry between the
eyes and enhanced medi-
cal outcomes resulting in
superior aesthetic appeal
and greater patient and
doctor satisfaction rates.

Renowned cardiologist and direc-
tor of Sri Jayadeva Institute, Dr CN
Manjunath, initiated a first of its
kind Government centre to tackle
the epidemic of heart disease in the
country. Using a revolutionary tech-
nology called KardioScreen, a hub
and spoke model will be initiated
to deliver connected cardiac care
across various locations. Patients
who are at risk can get their elec-

trocardiograms taken at any of the
spoke centres and consult experts at
the hub (Sri Jayadeva) without hav-
ing to travel the distance.
KardioScreen, by iMedrix, allows
electrocardiograms to be performed
anywhere by a semi-skilled operator
and transferred to a remote special-
ist over the cloud. Hence, patients
don’t have to travel long distances
to get a checkup. Further, paramet-

ric analysis and AI reports help
doctors identify and manage high
risk patients in a timely and effec-
tive manner.
Sharing his views, Dr CN Man-
junath said, “Using KardioScreen,
patients will be able to access our ex-
perts from all the connected centres.
This can be potentially lifesaving in
critical times as well as saving the pa-
tients the burden of further travel.”
