energetic to do this instead. For now, they are
more than happy with their local business.
When it comes to finding some free weekends
each year, Roger and Jo block out a few
weekends for themselves, including Busfest and
the Cornwall VW Jamboree. They’ve also decided
not to book the Buses out from November
through to the end of January, to avoid the harsh
weather and road salt.
For those looking to put their Bus to similar
use, does Roger have any tips? “Just Kampers
were great for the insurance; we have a 5,000
limited mileage, but it also includes £100,000
liability for weddings and only cost £160. “Of
course, we also have an extra two million public
liability policy too”.
Interestingly, Roger pointed out that they’d
also thought about doing High School Proms,
as this is a rapidly growing area. A chat with
someone in the know however, made Roger
realise that you actually need a private hire
licence to do proms, although weddings are
exempt from this. “You’d actually be surprised
how much work and time it takes to run a
fairly small wedding hire business” comments
Roger, who is kept busy on a daily basis with
meticulous maintenance on the Buses, or
weekday weddings – they can accommodate
people by booking weddings on any day of the
