ual-cab utes are

one of the most

popular 4WDs on

the tracks these

days and it’s pretty

easy to see why. You get a

vehicle that can do the town

runs during the week, but

come the weekend load her up

and head bush – the perfect

all-rounder. With that

popularity comes some

seriously flash setups, and

one of the hottest additions

you can make to your ute right

now is a mint canopy setup.

Jackson is based in the

Illawarra region of NSW and

is the business owner of All

Terrain Fabrication. He’s the

bloke behind the Lux build,

and he fabricated his own tray

and canopy setup too. “I

bought the HiLux back in

December 2014”, explains

Shannon. “I loved the shape

and when I saw it at the dealer

I had to have it.” Shannon

wasted absolutely no time

setting his HiLux up, and

doing a bloody fantastic job

too – so let’s hook in and

We wanted to put the tray and canopy setup fi rst because it’s

the crown jewel of this build – if this setup doesn’t get you

frothing harder than a dishwasher with the wrong soap in it,

you need to get your head checked! “I built the tray and

canopy myself”, explains Shannon. “Both the tray and canopy

are alloy, and inside the canopy is a set of custom made

storage drawers. On top of one of the drawers is a slide-out

work bench/table and I have added an MSA drop down fridge

slide up the front for my 60L Engel. One of my favourite mods

that I’ve done would have to be installing the hot water heater

into the canopy. It makes camping that much nicer when you

can freshen up after a tough day on the tracks.”
