POT HOLDERS

From the assorted print
fabrics, cut:


  • Three squares, 2^11 ⁄ 2 in (pot holder
    centres). Stephanie fussy cut hers to
    feature a printed flower in each square

  • Three sets of strips, where a set is:
    two rectangles, 1 x 2^1 ⁄ 2 in and two
    rectangles, 1 x 3^1 ⁄ 2 in all cut from the
    same fabric (pot holder borders).

From the taupe print fabric, cut:


  • 12 squares, 3^1 ⁄ 2 in

  • Three rectangles, 2^1 ⁄ 4 x4^3 ⁄ 4 in

  • Two rectangles, 3^5 ⁄ 8 x6^1 ⁄ 2 in.

To make the pot holders, sew
the 1 x 2^1 ⁄ 2 in rectangles to the
left and right edges of each 2^1 ⁄ 2 in
square; press seams outwards. Then
sew the 1 x 3^1 ⁄ 2 in rectangles to the top
and bottom edges and press as before.

Sew a 3^1 ⁄ 2 in taupe square to the
left and right edges of each pot
holder. Press seams outwards. Sew
a3^1 ⁄ 2 in taupe square to the top and
bottom edges and press as before.

Trim each pot holder to measure
43 ⁄ 4 in square; you need to trim
at least^1 ⁄ 4 in outside each corner of the
pot holder, as shown in Diagram 4.

Sewa2^1 ⁄ 4 x4^3 ⁄ 4 in taupe
rectangle to the bottom edge
of one pot holder and the top edge
of the other two. Join the three pot
holders together, referring to the Pot
Holder Panel Layout Diagram. Then
sew a 3^5 ⁄ 8 x6^1 ⁄ 2 in taupe rectangle to
the left and right edges to complete
the panel. It should measure 6^1 ⁄ 2 x
191 ⁄ 2 in from raw edge to raw edge.

From the pale yellow print
fabric, cut:


  • One strip, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in across the width
    of the fabric. Crosscut it to yield one
    rectangle, 1^1 ⁄ 2 x5^1 ⁄ 2 in (A); four


rectangles, 1^1 ⁄ 2 x3^1 ⁄ 2 in (B); four
rectangles, 1^1 ⁄ 2 x2^1 ⁄ 2 in (C); one
rectangle, 2^1 ⁄ 2 x5^1 ⁄ 2 in (D) and two
squares, 2^1 ⁄ 2 in (E)


  • Six squares, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in (F)

  • 16 squares,^3 ⁄ 4 in (G)

From the taupe print fabric, cut:


  • One strip, 2^1 ⁄ 2 in across the
    width of the fabric. Crosscut it to
    yield two rectangles, 1^1 ⁄ 2 x2^1 ⁄ 2 in (H);
    two rectangles, 2^1 ⁄ 2 x3^1 ⁄ 2 in (I); and
    two rectangles, 2^1 ⁄ 2 x5^1 ⁄ 2 in (J)

  • Two squares, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in (K)

From dark grey print fabric
#1, cut:


  • Four squares, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in (M) (knobs).

From one of the assorted print
fabrics, cut:


  • One rectangle, 2^1 ⁄ 2 x3^1 ⁄ 2 in (L)

  • Stephanie fussy cut a recipe
    print fabric.

Draw a diagonal line on the
wrong side of both of the taupe
K squares. Pin them on each end of
the yellow A rectangle, as shown in
Diagram 5. Stitch on the lines, trim
the corners^1 ⁄ 4 in outside the stitching
and press.

To make the knobs, repeat the
process described in Step 20
using four taupe G squares on each
M square, as shown in Diagram 6.

Lay out all the units and
patches, referring to the Oven
Dials Panel Layout Diagram. Sew
them together in sections, as
