of the Z strip and the V strip to the
bottom edge of the Z strip. Join these
two panels to the left and right edges
of the towel from Step 38, as shown
in Diagram 8.

Repeat Steps 1-8 to make
another Pie block, but this
time, use dark grey print fabric #2 2in
squares instead of the taupe ones you
used before. Sew the W rectangle to
its left edge. Join the Pie+W to the
bottom edge of the unit you
assembled in Step 39. Join the pale
yellow AA rectangles to the left and
right edges of the oven window. Join
the pale yellow BB rectangles to the
top and bottom edges.

To make the oven feet, sew
patches together as shown
in Diagram 9. Sew this strip to the
bottom edge of the oven. The oven
base panel should measure 14^11 ⁄ 2 x
191 ⁄ 2 in from raw edge to raw edge.

Lay out the panels you’ve
made: potholders at the top,
with the oven dials, stove top and
oven base panels below it. Sew them
together. The quilt centre should
measure 29^1 ⁄ 2 x19^1 ⁄ 2 in from raw edge
to raw edge.

From the taupe print fabric, cut:


  • Four strips, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in across the


width of the fabric. Trim two of them
to 21^1 ⁄ 2 in and the other two to 29^1 ⁄ 2 in
(Border 1)


  • Another four strips, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in across
    the width of the fabric. Trim two of
    them to 25^1 ⁄ 2 in and the other two to
    331 ⁄ 2 in (Border 3)

    • Four strips, 2^1 ⁄ 2 in across the width
      of the fabric (Border 5).

From the brown check print
fabric, cut:


  • Four strips, 1^1 ⁄ 2 in across the width
    of the fabric. Trim two to 23^1 ⁄ 2 in and
    the other two to 31^1 ⁄ 2 in (Border 2).
