‘Doogie’ Howson’s tough HK Monaro GTS
started life as a stocker 186, with a banjo,
hubcaps and whitewall tyres. Doogie
cruised it like that for six years, but it
just wasn’t fast enough. “I put in a 307,
Powerglide and 9in, then changed it to a
377 that ran an 11.2@122mph,” he said.
“It’s got a different 307 in it now, running
Edelbrock heads and a 750cfm Quick Fuel
double-pumper”
