three began — after a chance introduction to
TPE Racing owner David Tunnell. David had
some great ideas about the direction I could take
the car.”
David took up the project in 2012, and began
stripping the car and bringing it up to the required
safety standards. The new race block and internals

were ordered, the diff was sent away to be sorted,
and David stretched back the guards for the larger
wheels to be fitted. Having the car remain street
legal was important to Jason, so a four-link was
fitted and chassis connectors were added from
the front to the rear. The motor for which the
parts were ordered is the mother of all tough
small blocks, built to displace 421ci, thanks to
custom Diamond pistons fitted to Oliver rods and
a steel crank.
