  1. WARM OR COOL
West Marine has collaborated with Helly Hansen to create a Marine First Layer shirt
line for men and women. The garments can be used for layering or worn on their own,
and include sleeveless ($40) and long-sleeve ($55) versions for women, as well as short-
    sleeve ($45), long-sleeve ($55) and quarter-zip long-sleeve ($65) versions for men. Each
piece offers UPF protection and Lifa Stay Dry technology for moving sweat away from
the skin. Men’s shirts come in sizes S to 2XL and a variety of colors; women’s shirts are
sized S to XL and available in three colors per style.

  2. O N T H E GO
Simrad has added the GO12 XSE (starting at $2,149) and GO7 XSR (starting at $649) units to its GO stand-alone chart-plotter series. These
multitouch displays also come with built-in sonar, and they network with 3G, 4G and Halo radar systems, StructureScan HD and chirp sonar
modules, autopilots, and SonicHub 2 systems. They come with internal GPS receivers and connect to NMEA 2000 sensors. Numerous options
for cartography are available, including C-Map and Navionics products. GO7, GO9 and GO12 stand-alones now feature an unlockable add-on
called VelocityTrack for Halo radar systems. The feature allows boaters to determine whether a target is closing, diverging or stationary.
    5. TOUGH GUY
Okuma has released a Makaira 10000-
size spinning reel that features the same
    forged-aluminum and machine-cut-body-
and-side-plate process as used for smaller
    Makairas. With its 23 oil-retaining O-rings
and gaskets, these reels withstand brutal
conditions. The 10000 comes with an
Ergo Grip soft-touch handle design, and
generates 55 pounds of drag pressure
    through the Carbonite high-output drag.
The 4.9-to-1 gear ratio picks up 40 inches
of line per crank. It carries 415 yards of
    50-pound braid and costs $699.99.
    7. POCKET THERMAL
    Night Vision Technology Solutions has
    introduced the Arrow pocket handheld
    thermal imager, providing a high-resolution
300-by-400-pixel infrared sensor with an image-
refresh rate of 50 hertz, 8 GB of internal memory
    and a 640-by-480-pixel display. The built-in
lithium-ion battery provides up to six hours
of continuous operation; the simple three-
button menu allows control of polarity color,
2x and 4x zoom, brightness, image capture
and tracking settings. Arrow comes with hot-
spot tracking to acquire and identify targets. The
IP66 camera weighs 12.4 ounces and measures
    6.2-by-2.6-by-2.4 inches. It costs $1,795.
