A late-‘70s masterpiece ahead of its time,
this unique architecturally-designed home
features a slew of sun-drenched nooks and
crannies to meet the modern lifestyle needs of
the family. With a few old-fashioned elements
gone, the now updated abode includes a
sunny offi ce space that is perfect for studying,
working, or even just reading a good book.
With built-in desk and reading nook, this home
offi ce/study is connected to the outdoor
space via fl oor-to-ceiling glass doors. Opening
them up on a sunny day brings the outside in
to create a pleasant working environment.

CHIPBOARD HOUSE
LOCATION OCEAN SHORES, NSW
Though diminutive in size, the Chipboard
House contains a clever study/library/offi ce
space on its mezzanine level. Due to double-
height construction at one end of its design,
an elevated mezzanine creates the perfect
nook for work or quiet contemplation. A
built-in desk runs along one wall, providing
plenty of work space, while built-in fl oor-to-
ceiling shelves form a book-lover’s dream
wall along the opposite side. A long narrow
window above the desk pulls in plenty of
natural light to make reading easier. Clean
lines and unadorned walls continue the simple
aesthetic that fl ows throughout the house
and underscores the fuss-free nature of the
home’s construction, ultimately presenting an
intriguing mix of both form and function.

A glass house on the Sunshine Coast of
Queensland off ers resort-style living at
its very best — but even holidays can be
interrupted by business. Cleverly concealed
in a back hallway, this home offi ce niche
features a long length of built-in desk that
can comfortably seat two. In a smart move, a
lack of windows in the otherwise transparent
house means there are no magical vistas
to distract from the task at hand. Stylish,
sleek and sophisticated, this compact space
provides everything needed to get the job
done without unnecessary frills. And when
it’s fi nally time to play, the sprawling pool
and outdoor spaces beckon.
