bombed in World War Two but instead of starting over,
architect Sir Basil Spence used its obliterated frame to
form an iconic cathedral, mixing old with new to create
a haunting but impressive structure. Pre-booked groups
can benefit from one of the cathedral’s knowledgeable
tour guides, also gaining entry to the Blitz Experience
Museum (dependent upon opening hours). Why not
climb the tower too? It boasts the best view in the city.
Coventry used to also have a third cathedral known as
St Mary’s too, but it was destroyed by Henry VIII in the
16th century. You can still visit its ruin today.
