Australasian Dirt Bike — January 2018

IT’S BEEN A pretty laid-back
couple of months now that all
the racing has fi nished, which
means more time for stuff I
wanna do, like pig hunting and
going trailriding with mates.
I’ve recently been away with
the old man pigging on a
family friend’s station called
Wertago, in-between Broken
Hill and White Cliffs, and also
Mt Stuart that backs on to
Tibooburra.
The last trip up there we got
up to 80 pigs, and six of them
were over 100kg. I always love
getting up there away from
everything and just hanging
with family and friends.
On the bike side of things, I
have been on a 500EXC-F the
last couple of months and
loving it! I also have a

300EXC and can’t choose
between the two.
I still have another month or
so to decide, luckily. They both
suit my riding style, especially
the 500EXC-F having all the
power in the world.
I got the chance to go help
out KTM Australia with the
new Junior 50cc program at
the AUS-X Open, which was
awesome. It was cool seeing
the young talent and the
future of our sport and I think
it is awesome that KTM put
this together for the young
kids so they can get a taste of
being in a packed-out stadium,
I’m sure they will all never
forget it.
After the year I have had in
Australia, winning every AORC
round, Motorcycling Australia

I’VE LOST MY #1 PLATE

PLATE

has decided to change the
rules for the AORC and I won’t
be able to run the #1 plate.
They have decided to take the
outright win away from all us
riders, despite it being what all
the manufacturers and teams
strive for.
So now it’s all about the
class. In theory there would be
riders from the U19, E1, E2, E3
and Women’s class all running
a #1 plate, but because Lyndon
[Snodgrass] and me are
swapping classes we won’t be
able to run a #1, despite the
fact I won my class and we
went one-two outright.
So now, I think there is going
to be three number 1 plates
getting around at once next
season. Pretty dumb idea if
you ask me!
