Your friend borrowed
money ages ago and still
hasn’t paid you back.
THE SOLUTION:It’s not nice when you’re
leftsearching for spare change at the bottom
of your school bag to buy an afternoon finger
bun when you know you’re owed money. But firing
up over it will only cause a rift with your BFF and staying silent
is guaranteed to make you feel cheated. Instead, pitch a friendly
reminder to your friend with no pressure or hard feelings.
TRY THIS LINE:”Hey, it was a while ago, so you might have
forgotten, but you borrowed that money off me for [insert item
here] and I’m wondering if you could pay me sometime?“

More

Your friends are
ALWAYS borrowing
money from you.
THE SOLUTION: As much as you want your mate to join in
on all the fun, you’re not a bank! Constantly shelling out for
their social life will just make you feel resentful. Try and fix the
situation before you get too unhappy and start avoiding them.
TRY THIS LINE: ”Hey, it’s getting a bit awkward for me always
having to lend you money. I’m wondering if next time we head
out you could make sure that you have your money sorted
beforehand. Or maybe we can do something that doesn’t cost
very much? I just don’t always have enough to spot you.“

They never want to spend
money and it’s getting in the
way of having a good time.
THE SOLUTION: It’s definitely annoying
when a friend won’t reach into her pocket to
buy a ticket for the fun park even though she can more than
afford it. But rather than letting it boil over into a fight, let
her know the impact this has on the times you do hang out.
TRY THIS LINE: ”I like spending time with you but we have
different ideas of how we like to spend our money. Is there
something else we could do when we hang out that would
make you feel a little more relaxed when it comes to money?“

M

oney drama is one of those things that
can turn even your sweetest mate into
Cinderella’s evil stepmother. Imagine
losing a good friend over something as minor
as not paying them back for a can of Coke?
It sounds crazy, but something which may not
seem like a big deal to you could be a pretty
sensitive issue to somebody else – and vice
versa. So, rather than going totally hush-hush
on issues involving cash, we think that you
should take the high road and sort them out,
even if it’s a bit awkward at first. This is our
guide to fixing your sticky money situations.

Money,

Money can be

a complicated thing,

especially when it comes

between you and your

friends. here, we sort

your cash confl icts.
